Using Acceptance to Heal Your Heart

The Power of Acceptance

Pain from things that have happened to you in your past can block and close off your Heart Chakra.  Maybe your partner cheated on you.  Or you lost someone very dear to you.  Or a relationship just didn't work out that meant alot to you, and you feel loss and regret from it.

No matter what the situation, acceptance is key to healing it so that you're free to move forward.

Accepting something doesn’t make it right.  It doesn’t make it fair.  It doesn’t take away the reality of the situation.  BUT, it does do something very powerful for you:  Accepting a situation for what it is allows you the freedom to move forward with your life. 

It breaks the chains binding you to the past.  It frees up your time and energy.  It opens the door for you to decide what you want to be different and focus on creating that in your life instead.  

How to Accept Any Situation:

 

     Think of a situation that’s been disturbing you.  Now look at it from your perspective now, instead of where you were when it happened.

 

  • Looking back, what lesson did you learn from that experience? How did you grow from it?

 

  • Congratulate yourself on having the clarity to be able to that lesson and learn from it.

 

  • Trust that you’ll never make that same mistake again. Now that you know better, you’ll handle a similar situation differently.

 

  • Say to yourself:  “I’ve decided that I am going to choose to accept this situation.  It is what it is.  It’s over.  I can’t change it.  No, it doesn’t make it right, but I’ve decided that I am not going to give this any more of my time and energy.  I choose to do something different.  If this situation ever comes up again, I will …..”

 

  • Move forward.

Letter Writing Technique

Make a list of all of the people whom you have any low-level emotions towards.  Write them a letter.  Pour all of your thoughts and feelings out onto the paper until you have nothing left to say….then crumple it up and throw it away.   Burn them for an added spark of freedom!  It’s magically freeing and incredibly healing.
